Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. Dove wants to help create a world where a woman’s looks are a source of confidence, not anxiety. So together with Ogilvy Brazil they decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.
An FBI profiler was brought in to draw two sketches of each woman selected. One based on her description of herself and the other as a stranger saw her. The two very different perspectives were made into films, print ads, and online gallery of portraits. The campaign was widely picked up by media around the world, and shared by women everywhere, reinforcing the message, “You are more beautiful than you think.”
